first post...this is what i see..

This is my first post as an official blogger. feel free to follow if you like.

This week I found a new favourite in tv viewing. It's unlike many of my other favourite shows (himym, seinfeld, scrubs, lost, ncis) The show is called History Makers, its on the History Channel weekdays 4:30pm. The show is a one hour program highlighting the life of a 'History Maker'

It appeals to me as i am an avid lover of Modern History but also because i desire to be a History Maker, someone who makes or creates history through my choices and actions. I believe that there is a desire in all of us to affect history and make our mark on society. My desire is that my impact on history shall be a positive and effective one.

Thomas Jefferson, the third American President was on an episode of History Makers this week. He was part of the revolutionary war, helped pen the declaration of independence, was for the emancipation of slavery and established the University of Virginia. But what made this man great. how was he able to achieve the things he did? What did he do to make him a History Maker?

Discipline.

TJ would wake up at 5am and begin reading and studying. He was studying to become a lawyer and would read for hours in the morning so that he could become knowledgeable in his field. His life was built upon the disciplines he installed when he was young man.

When watching this i was personally challenged and inspired. Being a uni student i have developed many a lazy habit these past few years and have not really been excited or passionate about what i was doing apart from the fact that i had the opportunity to positively influence the lives of children.

This year i am beginning a new course at uni, training me to become a High School History/English teacher. One of my desires as a teacher is to be able to positively affect the students that enter the classroom, inspiring and challenging them to make positive choices in their lives. But i do not want to be a lazy teacher, a lazy person. which i have come to be. i want to be a professional, good at what i do, in regards to my teaching and also living a life affects history positively.

Last time i checked laziness did not change history, only slowed it down.

This year it is my goal to spend my days watching less tv rather reading more, more of the bible and more texts that shall assist in my progress to become a professional and quality teacher.

We all have part to play in God's big picture of Life on this Earth, we have the choice to pursue his purpose or follow our own. We can live to please man and our own desires or live to please the Heavenly Father and chase his desires.

I want to live in the purpose and plan of God and get to know him so much more so that i can effectively live a life worthy of the call. I want to choose life!

Proverbs 23:23 "Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline and good judgment"

This is what I see..
